I finished my ten minute documentary for NYU! If I ever get a chance, I'll post it here. Now it's all about putting it with the application and getting it in before the early decision deadline.
Auteur - An artist, often a film or theatre director, whose complete control over all aspects of a production give the end result a recognizable feel
Direct sound - Live sound. This may have a sense of freshness, spontaneity and 'authentic' atmosphere, but it may not be acoustically ideal.
Documentary - A film, TV program, book etc. that presents a social, political, scientific or historical subject in a factual or informative manner
Draft – any of the various versions in the development of a written work
Edit – to cut and assemble the components of something
Focus - the concentration of attention or energy on something; maximum clarity or distinctness of an image rendered by an optical system
Lavaliere microphone - Portable microphone that hooks around neck or is clipped to clothing. Also known as a necklace, lapel, or pendant microphone
Narration - the act of giving an account describing incidents or a course of events, providing commentary
Plot - The general course of a story including significant events that determine its course or significant patterns of events
Post production - The final stage of the filmmaking process, normally involving picture editing, sound design, visual effects and outputting the film to a format suitable for release
Sequence - A dramatic unit composed of several scenes, all linked together by their emotional and narrative momentum.
Shot - A single run of the camera or the piece of film resulting from such a run.
Technique - a practical method or art applied to some particular task; a way of accomplishing a task that is not immediately obvious
Timestamp – The date and time at which an event occurs or occurred, usually indicated in human-readable form, especially when used in a log to track events
Visualization – To form a mental image or vision; to imagine
